Installing or removing the Software Manager🔗

The Software Manager is a self-contained application that can be run without installation. For regular use, we recommend installing it for convenience.

Installing the Software Manager🔗

The latest Version of the MVTec Software Manager can be downloaded from our MVTec download portal . When you start the Software Manager using the som binary for the first time, it offers to install itself.

Note

The integrety of SOM and MVTec Software when installing from the MVTec website is verified automatically. For more information, see Verifying the software.

This adds a desktop icon and a Start menu entry for the Software Manager on supported systems like Windows.
If you choose to install it, you can delete the original som binary after you exit the current session. Otherwise, close the Welcome dialog and continue using the Software Manager without installation.

If another version of the Software Manager is already installed, it will be upgraded.

Once installed, the Software Manager can manage itself from the Installed page.

Note

As long as the current session is still running, the Software Manager can reinstall itself after you remove it. If the session has ended, you must run the original binary again.
